The Making of Giacometti

A short video with behind the scenes impressions of the Giacometti exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum.

Behind the Scenes (Mini-Documentary with Mount Maker Derek Deluco)

There is nowhere quite like Frank Lloyd Wright’s open rotunda at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York to present an exhibition.
Everything on view in or behind the scenes of Giacometti was built to accommodate Alberto Giacometti’s works in concert with the rise of the museum’s ramps and angles of its walls. A multiplicity of interdepartmental staff at the Guggenheim—from curators to art handlers, registrars to exhibition designers—collaborated with members of the Fondation Giacometti to produce “Giacometti.” This short film provides a fascinating glimpse into the process of installation.

“Giacometti” is on view at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York through September 12, 2018.
